Set up Amazon Author Central so the byline is a real page
Shoppers already click the author name. Author Central is the page they land on. Most of those pages are empty.
On Amazon, the author name is a link. Shoppers click it when they like the first book and want to know if you wrote another. If that click lands on a stub — no photo, no bio, three titles missing — they leave. Author Central is how you stop that.
Claim the page. Do not rent it.
Create or claim the Author Central account in your own email. Anyone who asks to “hold” the login is asking to own your public name. The work we do happens inside an account you keep. When we are done you can still change a photo without calling us.
What “setup” means
A biography that sounds like a person, not a keyword list. A photo that is actually you. A bibliography with the titles Amazon will attach, plus a note on anything still missing. The Follow button. Series pages when the books belong together. Editorial reviews if you have them and they are real.
The US marketplace is first because that is where most shoppers start. Other stores come after, once the primary page is not an embarrassment.
The mistakes we see
A bio copied from the back cover. A cropped party photo. Books sitting under a slightly different spelling of your name. A Goodreads profile that tells a different life story than Amazon. Shoppers notice the mismatch even if they cannot name it.
If you want this done for you, use Amazon Author Central setup. If the listing itself is the weak page, start with A+ Content instead.
